Dyslexia can affect the way people read and process written information. Some people with dyslexia may also experience differences in how text looks or feels when they read.
For example, reading can sometimes feel visually uncomfortable, or letters and words may seem harder to keep track of. However, these experiences are not the same for everyone.
In this website, you’ll explore the experiences of more than 90 dyslexic students and discover how they describe and experience written text.
Would you like to share your experience?
If you’re dyslexic and would like to share your own experience, you can take part in our survey on our website. Your story could help others understand the different ways dyslexia can be experienced and help us raise awareness of the experiences that aren’t always seen or understood.
Every experience is different, and every story matters.
Dyslexic Lens was created with a simple goal: to build understanding.
We want to help people learn more about dyslexia and the different ways it can affect reading and written information. We also want to give people with dyslexia a place to share their own experiences.
Originally created as a student project for the Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition, Dyslexic Lens has grown into an educational resource for the public, schools and organisations across Ireland.
At the heart of Dyslexic Lens is lived experience. Through real stories, visual experiences and feedback from dyslexic students and dyslexia tutors, we want to show that every experience of dyslexia is different.
We are committed to making Dyslexic Lens respectful, accessible and evidence-informed, while continuing to learn and grow.
Our goal is simple: to raise awareness, encourage understanding and help create a more dyslexia-friendly world.
So, come along and take a journey through the Dyslexic Lens.
